Apostille document certification service Las Vegas Nevada — $245 all-inclusive

Which Documents Nevada Will Apostille

Every document falls into one of two groups. Certified copies already carry a Nevada official's signature and are submitted as issued: birth, death, marriage and divorce records from the Nevada Office of Vital Records or the county; Clark County marriage certificates from the County Clerk, meaning the certificate issued after the ceremony and not the license; certified court orders and decrees bearing the clerk's seal; and Nevada business filings and certificates of good standing from the Secretary of State. Private documents are created by you and must be notarized first, because our notarization is what the Secretary of State authenticates: powers of attorney, affidavits and sworn statements including single-status affidavits and parental travel consents, diplomas and transcripts, contracts and business agreements, deeds and property documents for use abroad, and medical authorizations. Nevada cannot apostille FBI background checks or other federal documents, which are authenticated by the U.S. Department of State; passports or driver's licenses; documents issued by another state, which that state's Secretary of State handles; a marriage license as opposed to the certificate; or a photocopy that is neither certified nor notarized. If you are not sure which group your document is in, send us a photo of it and we will tell you before you pay anything.

How to Get a Nevada Apostille in Las Vegas: Four Steps

1. Free consultation

Tell us the document, the destination country, and your deadline. We confirm whether that country is a Hague Convention member, whether your document needs a certified copy or a notarization first, and quote the total in writing.

2. Agreement and payment

We send the service agreement and invoice. Regular apostille service is $175 for one document, expedited service is $275, and each additional document in the same order is $35 — all of which include the Secretary of State's fees. Standard return shipping is included for a single document. Same-day service, express and international shipping, certified copies from the issuing agency, translations, and document preparation where a document must be drafted are quoted per order.

3. Documents and notarization

You bring or mail the original to our office at 5940 S. Rainbow Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89118, or our notary meets you in Las Vegas or Henderson to notarize.

4. Submission and return

We submit the package to the Nevada Secretary of State, pay the authentication fee on your behalf, and return the apostilled document to you locally, or ship it by the carrier you choose. Every Nevada apostille can be verified on the Secretary of State's online authentication search. Regular service is returned in about two to three weeks; expedited is issued within 24 hours once the document reaches the Secretary of State, plus transit; same-day is available for documents ready before the office's cutoff.

Nevada Apostille Questions

How much does an apostille cost in Las Vegas?

Our regular service is $175 for one document and expedited service is $275, and each additional document in the same order is $35. Those prices include the Nevada Secretary of State's $20 authentication fee under NRS 240.1657, the expedited price also covers the state's $75 24-hour expedite fee, and for a single document standard return shipping is included. Express and international shipping, certified copies from the issuing agency, translations, and document preparation where a document must be drafted are quoted separately.

Can I get an apostille the same day?

Often yes. We hand-carry the document to the Secretary of State and return it the same day when the document is ready before the office's cutoff; call (725) 243-5188 for a quote.

Do I need a lawyer to get an apostille?

No. An apostille is an administrative authentication, not a court matter. We are a document preparation service registered with the Nevada Secretary of State, and we prepare and submit apostille packages at your direction; we do not give legal advice.

Can you apostille a birth certificate from another state?

No. Each state's Secretary of State authenticates only its own officials' signatures. We handle Nevada documents and can tell you where to send an out-of-state one.

Does my document need to be translated?

That depends on the receiving country. The apostille itself is in the Hague form. Translations are quoted separately.

What if my destination country is not in the Hague Convention?

The Secretary of State issues a certification instead of an apostille and the document then goes to that country's consulate for legalization; we tell you which applies to your destination at the consultation and can coordinate the consular step.

What a Nevada Apostille Is and Who Issues It

An apostille is the certificate a country attaches to a public document so that it will be accepted in another country that has joined the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961. In Nevada the apostille is issued by the Secretary of State. NRS 240.1657 provides that the Secretary of State shall, upon request and payment of a fee of $20, issue an authentication to verify that the signature of the notarial officer on a document intended for use in a foreign country is genuine, and that for a Hague Convention country the Secretary of State must issue an apostille in the form prescribed by the Convention. For a country that is not a member, the Secretary of State issues a certification instead, and the document then goes to that country's embassy or consulate for legalization. The Secretary of State authenticates Nevada signatures only: a Nevada notary's, or a Nevada public official's such as the County Clerk or Recorder. An apostille certifies the signature and office of the official who signed the document; it does not verify the contents of the document.
